Local audiences enjoyed an amazing seasonal spectacle at the Waterfront. Presented by a cast of over 100, The Music Box featured ballet dancers, choirboys, school choirs, the popular adult company and the stunning candlelit carol procession.
For the first time open auditions were held for the adult company which meant the team was able to find lots more talent across the region.
Everything had to get bigger to fill the Waterfront, going from a 400 seater to a 2000 seater venue was a challenge. So, 10 ballet dancers became 20, 4 choirboys became 12 and the number of guest school choirs per show doubled! The band also increased in size as did the adult company and two special guests Jeff Anderson and Linda John-Pierre were brought in from London’s West End to add to the spectacle.
The set had to increase in size and so did the candlelit carol procession which this year involved over 150 performers in order to fill the auditorium to create a real spectacle.
To facilitate the smooth running of the show with it’s larger numbers, extra team members had to be found. These were Nigel McClintock who rehearsed the Choirboys, Ashley Fulton the company’s Vocal Director who also conducted the carol procession and Company Manager Nick Gingell who has looked after numerous West End casts including Les Miserables and Oliver!
